KPFK Producer/Programmer Fernando Valesquez On The Cleansing Of KPFK & Pacifica

On 8/30/2009 KPFA Voices For Justice Radio held a forum on the Struggles at KPFK, KPFA and Pacifica. One of the speakers was Fernando Valesquez who was formerly the News Director of KPFK before the News Department was shut down by the management. He also is the producer of national and Latin American programming in Spanish which is now threatened by management of KPFK. All the slates with the exception of VOJR have been silent about the affect of the merging of KPFA and KPFK's daily news show although this has eliminated local community news from both stations.

On 8/30/2009 in Berkeley, CA the KPFA Voices For Justice radio slate had a forum on the crisis at KPFA and KPFK.
Fernando Valesquez, the past news director at KPFK and longtime producer and programmer of Latino public affairs
programming from the US and Latin America was one of the speakers. He spoke about how the management is now seeking eliminate Latino
political programming at not just KPFK but other Pacifica stations as well as the affects of the merger of the news show between KPFA and KPFK.
