MPJC Special Event & POTLUCK
Monday, August 24, 6 PM - Potluck
Program 7:15 PM
How Our Food Choices Effect us?
MPJC looks at our food choices and the consequences for our movement and lives!
Food Systems and Personal Choices:
The Political, Economic, Environmental, Health and Ethical Consequences of our Food Choices.
* Two Guest Speakers:
* Mark Squire, organic food activist, owner of Good Earth in Fairfax.
* Hope Bohanec on "eco-eating", a fact-filled presentation.
* Great FILM clips:
"Food Inc.", "The Future of Food", "The Meatrix",
Michael Pollan, Dennis Kucinich, Vandana Shiva.
* Public dialog, questions and comments.
Eating is an intimate affair, and our food choices impact every dimension of our lives.
At this event, we will seek systemic understanding:
from the catastrophes of corporate agriculture and factory farming... to the benefits of an organic, local, plant-based diet... and so much more. As activists, how do our diets reflect our values and affect our world and most importantly achieve our goals?
Are some food choices more peaceful, just, and earth-friendly than other choices?
Potluck, food fight and love fest... Come learn and make some changes, bite by bite!
We encourage locally grown goodies (vegetarian preferred) for the potluck, this will also be part of the "bigger" discussion.
