San Francisco's only State Park for SALE - legislation pushed by Senator Mark Leno from SF
Candlestick Recreation Area was once created amongst stiff opposition in Sacramento. Then finally the State of California agreed to create the first State Park in San Francisco and named it Candlestick Recreation Area at a cost of $10 million. Candlestick Recreation Area has served thousands of constituents living close by Bayview Hunters Point and even serving folks that live in Brisbane, Burlingame, Daly City, and beyond. Now, suddenly Senator Mark Leno wants to use Senate Bill to give 40 acres of this precious Open Space to a Rogue Developer - Lennar.
Over 30,000 units are planned for the Southeast Sector of San Francisco that includes the Bayview Hunters Point. But, in all this planning there has been NO current Economic Analysis. There has not been one sound Transportation Document focusing on Public Transportation, and of course no Environmental Impact Report (EIR) in general.
Senator Mark Leno has been bought by Lennar a Rogue Developer.
Behind this deal is the Pacific Heights Mafia. Also, folks like Senator Diane Feinstein and Congressperson Nancy Pelosi. Other sell outs mostly Blacks like Aurelious Walker, Lola Whittle, Linda Richardson, Sophina Maxwell, Agnelo King, Gary Banks, Doris Vincent - and many more - all on the take.
Lennar already has been promised Hunters Point Naval Shipyard that has to be cleaned before it is developed. This is some 900 acres plus. However, Michael Cohen from the Mayor's Office of Economic Development and Mayor Gavin Newsom see it fit to give Lennar another 40 acres of our precious Open Space called Candlestick Recreation Area to build high rise buildings. Saturate the place with traffic, high density living - and compromising Quality of Life issues.
Candlestick Recreation Area is used by the public and when the 49ers have their games most of the tail gating parties take part on the Parking Lot that is part of the Candlestick Recreation Area. Others come to this area to surf, jog, BBQ, and have clean fun. Lots of families use this park and on any given week day - you can see people using this Park State land.
Lennar a Rogue Developer is out to make money. It is called Land Banking. At the hearings before the Appropriation Committee in Sacramento and before the Chair Kevin De Leon - the Chair told Senator Mark Leno that SB 792 was being opposed by many of the constituents in the Bayview Hunters Point. Chair, Kevin De Leon requested Mark Leno to address these concerns.
Assembly person Tom Ammiano who represent San Francisco for SURE is against SB 792 and says that the fight is not over. I just met him at the Bayview Opera House on Saturday, August 22, 2009. I know that Leland Yee is for it and has used his clout to win over some of the legislators. I spoke to Fiona Ma at the Bayview Open House and she wants to learn more about SB 792 at this late juncture. Of course Senator Mark Leno is willing to sell the community out - lock, stock and barrel.
A long time ago I appeared before the Natural Resources Committee where this fake SB 792 was first heard - the Chair of this committee Fran Pavley. Mark Leno belongs to this committee so he hoodwinked most of the committee members on this committee to introduce this bill. I also the usual Lennar thugs and others that were bus from the Bayview all Blacks paid some $10 or so to favor the fake SB 792. When I asked some of these folks if they had read the Bill or knew that Candlestick Recreation Area would be compromised - they had nothing to say. " We thought this was about Jobs" they said.
Mark Leno could not hoodwink at the Appropriations Committee where there was very strong opposition against Senate Bill 792. The Legislators in Sacramento are fully aware that Lennar is a Rogue Developer there is not doubt about that. What these Legislators in Sacramento assume is that San Franciscans because we are considered sophisticated agree with Mark Leno's dubious plan - and here they are all DEAD wrong.
Mark Leno is vying to run for Mayor and this will NOT happen - he will be met with strong opposition. Mark Leno loves to bite the hand that feeds him. He loves to use people and has been an utter failure on all fronts in Sacramento. This SB 792 will be met with very strong opposition and what is more will be connected to all the other efforts Senator Mark Leno makes to further his political moves.
Gone are the days when politicians thought they could make silent moves and hoodwink the people. The people have power and Mark Leno has been exposed like a snake - slithering in quietly to make its devious and evil move. Joined by Sophina Maxwell another sell out and the District 10 Supervisor who is not TRUSTED by the community she purports to represent.
Senator Mark Leno has not held one single meeting in the community regarding Candlestick Recreation Area which brings in over $1.2 million revenue. $950,000 from the tail-gating and other connected activities from one vendor itself. More, from other activities.
The plan is to build 40, 50, 60 story buildings on a State Park Land by the Bay. This matter has to go before Bay Conservation Development Commission. We will be there to oppose Mark Leno and his cronies. This land is precious and NO development especially led by Lennar should have any footprint to soil this precious land with the sordid deeds of Lennar and Mark Leno.
Five San Francisco Board of Supervisors oppose Senate Bill 792 - they are Chris Daly, John Avalos, Eric Mar, Ross Mirkarimi, and David Campos. We the community thank them for their support.
Alioto-Pier has always been for Lennar and Mayor Gavin Newsom she is a dubious Supervisor. Joining her are David Chiu, Sean Elsbernd, Bevan Dufty, Carmen Chu, and of course the most EVIL of them all - Sophina Maxwell. Mayor Gavin New brags he is for green and sustainable practices. Ever heard of any Mayor endorsing a Rogue Developer like Lennar and encouraging a developer such as Lennar to build inferior homes on the only Open Space State Park that we have in San Francisco that serves most people of color and poor?
This is a clear reason why we know that Mayor Gavin Newsom is a RACIST.
Lennar fooled Vallejo and after ten years of promising failed to build 10,000 homes on Mare Island had nothing worthwhile to show. At the end of ten years Lennar declared - bankruptcy. If San Francisco continues to embrace Lennar - it will meet the same fate. There is only so many times - anyone can WARN San Francisco.
San Francisco cannot continue to harm poor people without inviting the WRATH of God.
In Florida Lennar has thousands of units sitting vacant. Many of them built from inferior material - and in one case toxic sheet-rock that was imported from China. CNN has a lengthy report on this case. Lennar is famous for building homes on toxic land.
Lennar has thousands of law suits against it - yet Mayor Gavin Newsom continues to embrace a Rogue Developer like Lennar and has permitted it access - at Treasurer Island, Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, and now Candlestick Recreation Area.
The people united will fight Lennar all the way and if Mark Leno comes in the way - we will fight him and his Pacific Heights Mafia - too.
