Lola Whittle, Linda Richardson, Gary Banks favor selling Candlestick Recreation Area in SF

by Francisco Da Costa
The usual mostly Black Bayview Hunterspoint sell outs bused themselves paid by Lennar Shipyard LLP to divide the community and participate in the selling of our only STATE PARK favoring legislation by Senator Mark Leno, was met with very strong opposition. Chair Kevin De Leon of the Assembly Appropriation Committee and other members were not pleased with the Leno legislation. Assembly person Tom Ammiano blatantly stated his opposition to the SALE of our only STATE PARK. The above mentioned sell outs showed their true colors - again dividing the community while raking in money for personal gain.
Yesterday, August 19, 2009 the Assembly Committee on Appropriation, Chaired by Kevin De Leon heard the pros and cons on flawed Senate Bill 792.

The Senate Bill has NOT been discussed by the Bayview Hunters Point community at large. A small group of advocates collected some money and traveled to Sacramento - to voice their opposition. Some 600 plus signatures were submitted to the Chair of the Appropriations Committee.

Senate Bill 792 has not been brought to the community and San Franciscans at large. Once the thousands that use Candlestick Recreation Area by Candlestick Park hear about the sale of the land and the adverse impacts - hell will break loose.

There are very serious issues linked to tidal lands, the Public Trust Act, the Burton Act, other very pertinent laws mostly discussed on the Natural Resources and Water Committee in Sacramento, where I first addressed the issues before Chair Pavely a committee were Senator Mark Leno too holds a seat.

There are powerful developers who have spent millions - greasing the palms of corrupt politicians to push for Senator Mark Leno's Senate Bill 792 that promises to build over 10,000 homes and promises jobs. These promises are always made by those that have in the past proved to be LIARS. In this case it is Lennar, a rogue developer that has already adversely impacted our community and failed all over the Nation.

There are mostly Black sell out waiting on the side - to receive bread crumbs and one of them is Lola Whittle who together with Aurelous Walker deem themselves to be the Proponent of Prop G - that really is the engine that is pushing for this dubious Senate Bill.

Prop G hoodwinked the community and the result we see such machinations led by Michael Cohen from the Mayor's Office of Economic Development and Work Force. Another person who has let down the community is Sophina Maxwell - the sell out District 10, Supervisor.

Chair Kevin De Leon, Tom Ammiano, and others asked the relevant questions and Senator Mark Leno was surprised at the opposition and also how many members on the Appropriation Committee did not particularly like this flawed bill that pushes for the SALE of State Park Land - $1 million for a acre.

San Franciscans have not heard much about this Senate Bill and less about the adverse impacts. Right now the Candlestick Recreation Area brings in over $950,000 from events and parking linked to the 49er games and other major events. The Candlestick Recreation Park is self sufficient - be it that the money generated does not come directly to the Candlestick Recreation Area but goes to a common fund much like the City and County's General Fund.

In this days when many other State Park are closing technically Candlestick Recreation Area is doing well for itself.

There are serious issues when it comes to building high rise buildings that have to be addressed by the Department of Toxic and Substances Control, the Regional Water Board, BCDC, and other Regulatory Agencies - linked to SB 792.

On the Hunters Point Shipyard, Lennar has greased the palms of many and nothing much is happening. The Tabernacle Group is divided and one Peggy Blackman is trying to salvage the group of Black Pastors - known in the community as Poverty Pimps Pastors. The leader is Aurelious Walker who will be suffer the consequences of his EVIL deeds that sprout from GREED and ignorance.

Joining him at the hearing before the Appropriation Committee was Lola Whittle who had the audacity to come near me to take a photograph in the chambers. One needs permission to take photographs and I acquired that through the Sergent and the Chair, Kevin De Leon. Poor Lola Whittle did not. So, when I trained by camera on her - she like a coward turned her back and I have her on record. Her mug is there for all the world to see when you view the photographs at the end of the article.

Linda Richardson who is vying to run for District 10 and one of the most corrupt persons in the amateur political field was there - spewing lies and diatribe. No one in the community respects her and if thinks for a second she can run and win the District 10 elections - she can keep on dreaming.

Gary Banks was there he wants money from the Stimulus Package to prepare our youth for jobs. The man has no clue about Work Force and has made some bread crumbs on the failed Apartment Investment Management Company (AIMCO). His church is called the Market Place. Jesus went into the temple and when he saw that some were selling stuff as they do in the market - he over turned the tables, became angry and warned the sellers not to defile the temple.

Sadly, we do not have one single leader in the Bayview Hunters Point that comprehends the Public Trust Act, the Burton Act, and many laws that come before the legislators and are governed by the policies that come before the Natural Resource Committee and other important committees. Such policies and laws can be comprehended but sadly we have no one in leadership - that can address them. We have NO leaders that really want to serve the community. We have many that have a hidden agenda. Others that will NOT be humble.

Aurelious Walker, Tim Paulson, Sophina Maxwell the District 10 Supervisor and Michael Cohen all spoke in favor of Senate Bill 792 and took their time to spew the diatribe and lies.

The community did its part - a team put together at the last moment as often happen in these cases. They tried their one vain attempt, backed by the other comments on NO voiced by a group of over twenty five - that made some vague impression on the Appropriations Committee.

This matter now goes before the full Assembly.

Hopefully, Senator Leland Yee, Assembly person Fiona Ma and Tom Ammiano will learn from this lesson. These Representative must hold local meetings and discuss such matters. I know soon they may vie to be the Mayor of San Francisco or seek other positions. It would not be nice for some one to ask them - where the hell they have been all this time?

Some time ago a Republican Consultant crafted a letter that was signed by Senator Leland Yee, and Assembly persons Fiona Ma and Tom Ammiano. The contents of the letter were precise to remove 1.5 million tons from the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. The paradox is - it had to take a Republican Consultant to figure out, how to craft a letter and then use Democrats to push for a hidden agenda.

The hidden agenda some folks that the Republican Consultant has links with would do the clean up at a cost of over $500 million plus - and make some money. It is always about money, greed, and not the best interests of the community - never.

The community that took a bus and left early in the morning to be there on time - could have seen a narrow victory. One single vote by one Republican on the Committee favoring this fake Senate Bill - won the day for Senate Mark Leno. One solitary vote against the Senate Bill 792 - would have spurred the community that had the better interests of San Franciscans at large - to take them to a better place.

Absent at the meeting were others that talk the talk but cannot walk the walk.

I find it very difficult to understand the behavior of some. But, then again how can one fault the living dead. On this issue it was important to impress upon the Appropriation Committee and especially Kevin De Leon who mostly spoke in the favor of the community and against this bill - SB 792. Others chose not to represent the community and must forever hold their peace.

It is always amazing to see Aurelious Walker, Cheryl Smith, Doris Vincent, Keith Jackson, Gary Bank, Angelo King, Linda Richardson, Lola Whittle, Sophina Maxwell all go to Sacramento and other places for $500 a pop or some bread crumbs to sell out the community. This time they brought some Black youth from Alice Griffith that wanted to say something but could not express themselves. These sell outs will never fail to amaze me.

Lennar the Rogue Developer must NOT be permitted to go ahead with this project which I doubt will break ground. Hopefully, BCDC will be able to bring the required policies and laws to bear down and use liquefaction, flooding, and adverse impacts of high density to silence these greedy - bastards.

No sound Environmental Impact Report, Transportation Document, Current Economic Analysis, meaningful dialog with the community have been done and conducted. Michael Cohen will be very sorry for all the machinations and ploys. This time - he has crossed the line and will fail.

Michael Cohen was sitting there doing the devil's work. As I said many years ago - no good will happen at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. Let me say very clearly as one who has been an Environmentalist for over 45 years and I am NOT on the pay roll of Lennar or the City and County of San Francisco - that this so called Candlestick Recreation Area ruckus - will fail miserably.

I represent the First People the Muwekma Ohlone and must speak up. But, I do speak up anyway. But, on this issue I have an added responsibility to the First People and the Ohlone at large:

http://www.muwekma.org

The Bayview Leadership has been divided. So divided that only a small group has the guts to fight the very evil Mayor Gavin Newom, Michael Cohen, Diane Fienstein, Nancy Pelosi, the Pacific Heights Mafia and others that I only have mentioned on this site again and again.

San Francisco better wake up. The mostly Black sell outs must be called out and justice demanded.

Here you have the San Francisco Labor Council with Tim Paulson selling out the community. This Labor Council has received over $500,000 from Lennar a Rogue Developer.

You have Arc Ecology and the Sierra Club making deals behind close doors. Who gave these jerks the permission to represent the community on this one issue and other important issues.

The Sierra Club better wake up. NOT ONE SINGLE SQUARE INCH MUST BE SOLD TO LENNAR.

Right now a few hundred feet from Candlestick Recreation Area at Executive Park hundreds of units are vacant, and other units mostly Market Rate cannot be sold and are rented.

Thousands of units are vacant in San Francisco. Hundreds of homes in fore closure. Thousands are leaving San Francisco. If this is NOT a gimmick I do not know what is?

Soon 20,000 units are going to built at Potrero Hill, Hunterview, Sunnydale, the old Schlage Lock Company, all over the place. Lennar wants to build 10,000 units of inferior homes as it has all over the Nation. Does Lennar think for a neno second that we are stupid?

In Florida thousands of units built by Lennar remain empty. Lennar has declared bankruptcy at Mare Island, forcing the City of Vallejo to declare bankruptcy. Lennar promised to build 10,000 units on Mare Island and failed to keep the promise. Promised to clean up Mare Island the did not do so.

Lennar will do the same at Treasure Island, Hunterspoint Naval Shipyard - any where this dubious developer steps foot on.

Shame on our City of San Francisco leaders for not taking bold, open stand and sending Lennar packing off from our City and County of San Francisco.

Shame on the San Francisco Board of Supervisor for listening to the lying, corrupt, ignorant - Sophina Maxwell who proclaimed that she has lived in the Bayview Hunters Point for 30 years. That is a lie. That is why the folks have to be sworn before they testify. Sophina Maxwell has NOT lived in the Bayview Hunters Point for 30 years.

The land belongs to the Muwekma Ohlone and was stolen from them. No one is talking about this. Outsiders and shallow so called advocates want to address an issue that they do not comprehend about. Most of them pussyfooting and pretending to serve the divided community. Leading the pack and dividing the community most Black ignorant folks.
