Saturday, August 15, 2009
Time:
11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Event Type:
Other
Organizer/Author:
UA in the Bay
Location Details:
Event will be held at an outdoor space in San Francisco. Location specifics will not be released until the night of August 14.

This summer UA in the Bay will be hosting an Anarchist Olympics in San Francisco. The general idea is to host mock competitions, short demonstrations, skillshares, full length trainings, and games that help to prepare our community with tactical knowledge for upcoming protests, demonstrations and actions. We believe sharing this knowledge and gathering socially will better prepare us all for success and safety on the streets.

Schedule of events, speakers, participating groups, parties, and more will be up on our website (http://www.uainthebay.org) soon. Check back often for updates.

The Mobilization against Chevron is also occurring on this day....
by really?
people from all over the region are going to Richmond to stand in solidarity with those who's lives are wrecked by Chevron and UA is having the anarchist olympics. really? no shit?
by no really
Seriously, really? no way, you are kidding, In richmond, are you making a friendly invite or just being well you know what do people call it, oh yeah snide?
I can hardly image that there are two events in the bay area on the same day, what is happening here? How can this be? No one checked with the central committee, I am really upset at both of you groups. I propose that both events be cancelled and we lick our wounds and think about how to communicate better.

Originally, the Mobililization for Climate Justice planned to have a week long Climate Camp during the week of August 17th leading to an action on the weekend of August 22nd. Long ago, UA in the Bay originally scheduled the Anarchist Olympics around this event to avoid scheduling conflicts and complement the camp. Unfortunately the Mobilization for Climate justice had to move the Climate Camp dates and in the shuffle moved their first action date to August 15th.

We wish good luck and send warm thoughts to everyone involved in the Mobilization for Climate Justice=> Richmond Chevron action, as the campaign is important, and the opponent vile.

This looks tight. I've been hearing some about the workshops and speakers and it sounds like this is gonna be hella fun and mad informative. It'll be nice to see the bay milieu in a non-stressful situation. Mad props to UA for organizing this, we need more educational and social events like this.
by Richmond protest
UA could of coordnated this on another day. The Richmond protest could probably of used the people that are going to be attending the Olympics. Also, I can't tell if this is serious street trainings in tactics or just fun and games. Better figure it out before the next big protest or action, UA.
Hey autonomous individual from Richmond,

What's up with your little Rick Ashley virus link. You call the other person a troll, but it seems that you are the one being malicious. I had to re-start my computer and had to re-type something I was woking on a word document because of your little stunt. I don't even know what the hell your problem is anyways, it seems that persons complaint that you were addressing seemed somewhat legit. Alot of people commenting on here said that it was poor planning in considing with the Richmond protest. Do you really live in Richmond anyways? Asshole.

That comment needs to be removed. It has a link to a virus that you can't get out of without turning off your computer.
there was no reason to put a virus link on that comment page like that one fool did. Everybody who got click on that link was caught on there. Thanks for removing it.
by hmm
I ended up with trojan viruses after clicking on the link. Trojan viruses will attempt to steal passwords by copying its body to the current user's startup directory. The person who I think is a troll here is that prick who put the link on there.

Location
The 2009 Anarchist Olympics will be held in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, California. The spot will be in a grassy area and grove just north of John F. Kennedy Dr., at about 15th Avenue.

Whether driving, walking, or taking the bus, be aware that the spot is hard to get to from Fulton Street. On foot, you have to enter the park on the east side of Park Presidio (about where 13th Ave would be if there was one), in the Rose Garden entrance. Once you pass the garden you’ll hit a big street. Make a right (west) and walk 5 min to the Anarchist Olympics on the right.

Directions
Public Transit: If you are taking BART, get off at Powell St. Station. From there (or anywhere north of that station on Market St.) take the 5 MUNI bus west. It’ll take about 35 minutes, so leave early Get off at Park Presidio, and follow the directions above.

Car: From the 101 going north or the Bay Bridge going west, get off at the exit going toward the Golden Gate Bridge, then exit Octavia. Make a left (west) on Fell Street. Make a right on Stanyan Street (where the park starts), and then make a left on Fulton Street. Park near Fulton and Park Presidio and follow the directions above.

Bike: From 16th St. BART. Start 16th St. west. R on Church St. L on Duboce Ave. R on Steiner St. L on Waller St. R on Scott St. L on Fell St into the bike path in the Panhandle. Straight into GG Park. Right on Kennedy Dr. Straight to the A O! (30min)
