Support the AETA4 in court 7/10 & 7/13!
Upcoming court solidarity for the AETA4
Friday July 10
9:00AM
Wiley W.Manuel Courthouse
661 Washington ST.
Department 104
Oakland, CA
This date applies to Joseph only.
This is a pre-trial hearing on a trespassing charge. In July '08 there was an alleged trespass at the home of UC Berkeley vivisector Frederic Theunissen. Joseph is being blamed for this. The DA's office has clearly been in touch with the FBI and are insistent on taking this weak case (based fully on a blurry surveillance photograph) to trial.
Monday July 13
9:00AM
San Jose Federal Courthouse
280 S. 1st ST.
San Jose, CA
Courtroom #6, 4th Floor (Judge Whyte)
AETA4 Court appearance.
In recent weeks, the Defense attorneys, in concert with the Civil Liberties Defense Center and the Center for Constitutional Rights, filed the motion to dismiss, arguing that the AETA is unconstitutional. The government has filed their response to this motion.
This date will focus on the motion to dismiss. There will likely be a press conference outside, and we need as many of you out there as possible!
If you attend court in solidarity, please dress conservatively.
Monday July 13
11:00AM
San Jose Federal Courthouse
280 S. 1st ST.
San Jose, CA
Courtroom #4, Fifth Floor
Joseph has a bail review hearing right after the July 13 appearance. Currently, Joseph is the only AETA4 defendant on house arrest. The U.S. Attorney has branded him a flight risk, despite living in the Bay Area for years and being branded, as well as a danger to the community, despite being indicted for allegedly attending demonstrations. We request that everyone stick around and support him at this hearing before Magistrate Judge Seeborg.
