July 5, 2009. San Jose, California.
Members of the Raging Grannies Action League joined by members of the San Jose Raging Grannies sang several Single Payer Health Care songs as we faced off with right wing Tea Party protesters who seem to just love the health care system status quo!
Tea party goers were particularly irked by our refrain in the song below. It served us well, we sang it loudly when they started yelling rude comments our way. Our counter demonstration of about 100 was loud and proud!
My Pharmacy's Over the Border (tune: My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean)
My pharmacy's over the border -- I can't afford medicine here
They're TALK-ing re-FORM now in Congress -- The changes we need now are clear
Health care, health care, we need single-payer health care, right now!
health care, health care, we need single-payer right now
The FOR-profit BIG boys are nervous -- they see there is gonna be change
They say that re-FORM is just dandy -- so long as they dictate the range
They hog all the space at the table -- And lock Single-Payer folks out
And when they pro-TEST they arrest them -- Cuz PRO-fit is what it's about!
So call up your members of congress -- And tell them to listen to you
A public plan with private choices -- Ef-FI-ciency and savings too
Granny Barbara walks with two canes. They serve her in more ways than one!
Showing the Tea Party folks, they have no special claim tothat color combination!
