"Presses Stopped" A Current Event Lyric Poem
The Chronicle stopped printing it's newspaper in San Francisco today. Papers will now be printed in Fremont. This poem explored questions about that.
“Presses Stopped”
By W.S. Buckleman
July 5,2009
But, why was the river parted?
How have we seen our days?
Like, magic of force and traffic
In this regal charm school play
(Chorus)
Do we become?
Are we magic?
Calm the dreamers
Spill to the masses
Where are the dreamers?
Can they reflect?
Everything is deserted
Have the presses stopped yet
*~ (-*-) ~*
Who will be the voice now?
From how far away?
They say the word it travels
Lips move on words of parting
*~ (Chorus) ~*
Which is the way now?
To whom shall we rely?
Now if cut off from the world
Official news we can’t buy
*~ (Chorus) ~*
