Update: SF Public Access TV

by D. Boyer
San Francisco's Public Access TV will get a new managing entity in Fall 2009.
bavc_s_vision_for_san_francisco_public_access.pdf_600_.jpg
The entity that has been awarded the contract to run public access TV in San Francisco is the Bay Area Video Coalition. Sometime before or after Sept. 2009 there will be a transition. San Francisco Community Television Corporation will cease to run that station and BAVC will take over....
I have attached their winning proposal.

Looks like your conventional Coup d'etat, ala USIA, with Newsom's pals and cronies (BAVC) hijacking San Francisco public access for their own
personal ends and political agendas.

The awarding of this franchise should be protested and blockaded, at all
cost, by concerned citizens, access producers, former staff, and by other
competitive bidders.

If not, it's 'Hasta La Vista, Baby'.

Thanks, Dina, for posting this news on Indybay.

I guess we should be preparing to battle BAVC now.
I am not convinced that the poor and or disenfranchised would ever be able to access Public Access TV after they get their hands on it...
Those folks from DT are not in touch with reality if you ask me...

BAVC's intentions are to consolidate public access by dumping production facilities, corporatizing programming, and shutting down
free speech. Both channels will become mouthpieces for the SF Democratic Party and their Corporate Whores.

It's obvious a deal was cut b/w The City and BAVC before the so-called "competitive" bidding process even began. That's why
Comcast agreed to "grant" the new operator approx. $375k. "Transparency" is a sham in SF.

Time to get organized and take legal action, Access Producers! Otherwise, it's 'Hasta la Vista, Baby'.

We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
