Generals Who Led Honduras Military Coup Trained at the School of the Americas

by via Democracy Now
Wednesday, July 1, 2009 :Romeo Vasquez, a general who led the military coup in Honduras against President Manuel Zelaya, received training at the US School of the Americas. The SOA has trained more than 60,000 soldiers, many of whom have returned home and committed human rights abuses, torture, extrajudicial execution and massacres. According to School of the Americas Watch, Vasquez attended the SOA in 1976 and 1984. The head of the Air Force, Gen. Luis Javier Prince Suazo, also studied there in 1996. We speak with Father Roy Bourgeois, founder of the School of the Americas Watch.

by down with the coup!
The fact that this general was a graduate from the SOA, is further evidence that there was US involvement in this coup. I am sure that general has kept pretty close ties and has been in contact with the US and the US military since he graduated from the SOA. He has probably been one of the CIA's main boys in the Honduran army for years, just waiting for the right time and the signal from his US masters to make the move with the rest of his army coup conspirators officer buddies from back at Fort Benning, who have all been trained at the SOA to conduct something like what is happening right now in Honduras, a coup' dete! This is what the US wants in the region goes ahead and does, it removes those who oppose the interests of the United States and global capitalism. By force, by the military, by a coup. This is Chile and Guatemala all over again.
