Fighting Over a Dollar!
Health Care or Safety? Social Workers or Firemen? Homeless Shelters or Police?
That is what the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and Mayor Gavin Newsom are up against…
That is what the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and Mayor Gavin Newsom are up against…
And the drama that unfolded outside City hall on June 16th 2009 indicates all are Hot Button issues, or in other words if City residents want Police then they will have to cut health care, if they want firemen then they will have to cut homeless or self help related organizations.
Its not an easy decision, but one thing for sure is that the some of the Supervisors, namely John Avalos and Chris Daly are willing to talk and come up with a plan that would make it possible for every entity to SHARE the pain.

Firemen and people who oppose health care cuts are deeply divided. The scene outside City Hall was evidence of that divisive-ness. To aid in that division Mayor Gavin Newsom spoke on the Firefighters side but did not address nor respond to the other side and vice versa. As a matter of fact signs on the Firefighters side demanded recalls etc…..
So the bottom line is that San Franciscans can either have to wait longer for Firemen to arrive at the scene, or seek health care outside of San Francisco.
