"Strategies for Social Change"- Forum on Thursday, June 18th

Hello all!

As one part of the celebration of IMPACT!'s one-year anniversary, we are excited to announce a forum on Thursday, June 18th at 7pm at the Peace and Justice Center in Santa Rosa (467 Sebastopol Ave.)
This forum, entitled "Strategies for Social Change" is intended to give us a better understanding about what is going on in our region by hearing from several leading organizers for social justice. Representatives from the Graton Day Labor Center, the Committee for Immigrants' Rights, O22 (Coalition Against Police Brutality), and North Bay Labor Council will speaking about what projects or campaigns their organizations are involved in currently and what their vision is for the future of social movements, locally and in general. You will also hear from IMPACT!, what we have achieved in the last year, and what is in store for us in the coming months. After hearing from all the different organizations, we hope to have an open dialogue about how we can build real people power in our communities and what methods, strategies, tactics, we can implement to achieve long-lasting and radical social change.

Hola a todos!

Como parte de la celebracion del primer aniversario de IMPACT!, estamos emocionados a anunciar un foro para el Jueves, 18 de Junio a las siete, en el Centro de Paz y Justicia en Santa Rosa (467 Sebastopol Ave.).
Este foro, que se llama "Estrategias para el Cambio Social", va a intentar a darnos un entedimiento mejor sobre lo que esta pasando en nuestra region por escuchar de varias organizaciones de justicia social. Represenantes del Centro Laboral de Graton, el Comite para los Derechos del Inmigrante, O22 (en contra de los abusos policiacos), y el Consilio Laboral de la Bahia Norte hablaran sobre que proyectos y campanas estand organizando ahora y que son sus ideas para el futuro de los movimientos sociales, localmente y en general. Tambien usted escuchara de IMPACT!, y lo que hemos logrado desde nuestros principios en 2008, y que vamos a hacer en los meses que vienen. Despues de escuchar de todas las organizaciones, esperamos tener un dialogo abierto acerca de como podemos construir el poder del pueblo, desde el base, en nuestras comunidades y que metodos, estrategias, y tacticos vamos a usar para lograr el cambio social.
