Learn about the discrepancies in health-care access that transgender people face every day, and the battle for change.

JoAnne Keatley, MSW, Director, Center of Excellence for Transgender HIV Prevention and Minority Programs Manager, Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center at UCSF

Keatley states that transgender people have been systematically excluded from the health-care system. She will outline the societal, emotional and financial costs associated with these inequities. She will discuss her December meeting with the Obama transition team on access to health care for LGBT people and strategies to achieve better outcomes.
