Basta Means Stop! San José Says No to ICE Raids, Police Brutality

by May First and Fifth
The voice of the people cried out in the early days of May: No more ICE raids! No more Police Brutality!
The May 5 event was organized by BASTA, a group that despises the round ups and lock ups of ALL Latinos, be they Immigrants or just plain victims of police brutality.

Two actions in May, a rally for Immigrant and Worker Rights and a few days later a call for an end to police brutality, were watched over by mounted police.

City officials may grumble about the amount of noise generated by such actions, but the people's voice will be heard. Activists challenge the strict interpretation of "only one handheld microphone" at demonstrations without the "proper paperwork". By requiring permits, the state seeks to control freedom of speech in public places.

It is important that you get things right on this article. The voluntarios de la communidad had NOTHING to do with this rally, but it is often those who stand on the sidelines and show up as "celebrities" who take the credit for the work done by others. BASTA is an organization which has no connection to voluntarios de la comunidad, other than that we despise the round ups and lock ups of ALL Latinos, be they Immigrants or just plain victims of police brutality....... BASTA YA!!!!
