Naysaying City Officials try to Silence the Outcry Against Police Brutality
Which side are you on? Naysaying city officials tried to silence the outcry against police abuse by insisting that demonstrators on Cinco de Mayo stick to the strict limit of one handheld megaphone in City Hall Plaza. Suited up and telling demonstrators how it has to be, a voice from the office of City Council member Nora Campos in one Ryan Ford, was joined by a security guard and city event planner.

Curly Estremera said, "Nora is NOT on our side!" Others protested that number of decibels, and not the kind of equipment, is the correct interpretation as recently determined by a judge. Despite the unwelcome interruption by city employees and competing noise from a band at the adjoining flea market, activist voices filled the plaza with signs, chants and description of the harsh reality... San José police are biased, corrupt, and out of control.
