Tom Ammiano Representative from District 13 wants to push for ID cards - California wide.

by Francisco Da Costa
Tom Ammiano has always stood for the common person - and in his adjudication he has had compassion - having himself been the target of discrimination - in his life. As Supervisor of District 9 in San Francisco - he initiated Universal Health Coverage in San Francisco and won - big time. Tom, then initiated the Identification Card for Immigrants and others and won big time in San Francisco. In recent weeks he signed letter - joined by Senator Leland Yee, and Assembly person Fiona Ma - to remove 1.5 million tons of very toxic radiological dirt from Hunters Point. Now, Tom Ammiano - the kick ass Representative that he is - wants an ID for all immigrants and others - all over California. We must join him to bring this about - and attend the hearing in Room 127 in Sacramento at the Capitol at 1:30 pm - on May 6, 2009.
Tom Ammiano fought hard for Universal Health - and even though this matter went to Court - Tom Amminao was able to rally the forces and WIN big time.

Too many immigrants have benefited from the Universal Health Care Program. The segment of the population that has benefited the most - innocent children. and most of them - very poor.

Today, Mayor Gavin Newsom wants to take credit for Tom Ammiano's work - but, those of us that followed the legislation know - very well that Tom had to work hard to make the legislation fly - and then represent in Court to make it - stick.

Tom fought hard for the Identification Card to be given immigrants - even those undocumented in San Francisco - San Francisco being a Sanctuary City - so that the immigrants may enjoy - safety and peace of mind.

Since, the initiation and now passing of that Ordinance - many families and individuals have been able to get a San Francisco issued Identification Card.

With this State of Art card - with special markings that make it difficult to duplicate - and having the ability to gather as much pertinent information on the magnetic strip it carries - anyone possessing this card - can benefit.

Now, Assembly person Tom Ammiano wants to bring this good news to all of California and especially the immigrant population.

I would encourage the good Community Based Organization that have and are fighting so hard for the immigrants - to stand with Tom Ammiano and make good stuff happen.

The meeting will be held in Sacramento at 1:30 pm in Room 127 on May 6, 2009.

The more of you that show up - the better for this Bill to pass. First impression count and I know that those of you that care about immigrants - will be there. God Bless You All.

I represent the First People and the Ohlone Tribe always favors the immigrants from Mexico and down south - and embrace them - as they try to make a decent living for themselves and their families - in good old Cali fornia.

The Ohlone embrace all immigrants - especially those of color - and those that are very poor.

When Tom Ammiano - first tried to initiate the Identification Card in San Francisco - not all the SF Board of Supervisors - where in favor of it. Of course we still have some - racist Supervisors in San Francisco. But, now that it is a great success - all of them want to jump on the bandwagon.

I know there will be some in Sacramento - among the Senators and the Assembly persons. - that have such a mentality - but, with some luck - we can bring about a change.

Now, is the time to contact our friends - and the best thing that can happen - is to pack the Room 127 in Sacramento - at 1:30 pm and show Tom Ammiano - come quality love.

Immigrants are good people and most of them want to work and put bread on the table.

Many of them live in fear - because they have no Identification Card. No decent human being that can contribute to society - must live in fear.

When the strangers came to California a few hundreds years ago - the Ohlone, the Miwoks, other Native American Tribes did not ask them for Identification.

California belongs to Mexico - even though some one will tell you - they paid blood gold for it. Before that it belonged to the First People. Today, no one wants to think about history - because mostly history is his - his tory.

California Governors issued EDICTS to kill Native Americans and if you produced a SCALP - you could fetch - $5. Imagine killing a Native American for some - little money. But, this is our history as far as California is concerned.

Today, in the year 2009 - the least we can do - is issue an Identification Card to those that are already here and want to stay here. These human beings - immigrants - crossed the border - and in doing so endured - many hardships.

I know of innocent people that tried to cross the border and died on the way.

No one talks about these horrible facts - imagine dying of thirst or being left to be eaten by the vultures. It is sad state of affairs - when human beings are treated like dirt - by those Greedy - and those with the MINUTE MEN mentality.

Tom Ammiano is a good man - who has done well by humanity. We ought to support him now - or forever - hold our peace.
