Spring Into Action! Updates!- Sonoma County

by IMPACT! (impactpetaluma [at] gmail.com)
The Spring Into Action! Campaign is in full swing in Sonoma County. Dozens of events, gatherings, and activities have taken place already, and there are still more to go! Sunday, April 26th will be the Neighborhood Market: "Bailing Out the Community" in Petaluma. On May 1st there will be a massive rally and march for immigrants' and workers rights in Santa Rosa. And May 3rd will see the next Gathering of Activists and Community Organizations of Sonoma County at the Peace and Justice Center. Check out http://www.sonomaactivist.org for a list of other activities this month!
IMPACT! is in the height of our Spring Into Action! Campaign and we have already seen dozens of successful events in the region and even more inspiring experiences as we take to our neighborhoods to organize for justice! There is a momentum growing, on every front, that will strengthen our respective movements and move people to take action in their communities. As we round out the last 10 days of this campaign, let us look forward to the next gathering of community organizations and activists, from around Sonoma County, which will be held at the Peace and Justice Center, 467 Sebastopol Ave., Santa Rosa. from Noon to 2pm on Sunday, May 3rd. This will be a potluck, social event where we will be discussing the results of the Spring Into Action! Campaign. What did we do right? What could we improve upon? Where is this movement going from here? We also want to brainstorm future activities that we can collaborate on. Please bring something to share, food or drink. After discussing important matters, we want to have some time where we can hang out, talk, get to know each other, in a less formal way. This is crucial in building relationships and solidarity with one another.

In other news, IMPACT! is organizing the first ever "Neighborhood Market" this Sunday, April 26th at Noon. the event will be held at 1251 Marian Way in Petaluma. This event will be much like the Really Really Free Markets which are held all over the country. Folks are asked to bring something to share- either something they'd like to get rid of, or something they've made and there will be a free exchange of goods. There will also be live music, free food, and plenty of neighborhood networking. This will hopefully be the first of many such events in the future where we bring together our neighborhood to create real alternatives to our current social structures.

Lastly, we have a new website! Check it out at http://www.impactpetaluma.org
