Public Access TV will be gone/Facing a lay-off
Public Access TV in San Francisco is going to shut down.
So last night at work, Zane Blaney the Executive Director, and my boss, at the public access station gave me notice that I will be laid-off at the end of May. That station can be saved, but NOW it is in the hands of local politicians. It is literally up to San Francisco's Board of Supervisors and Mayor Newsom whether Public Access TV in San Francisco will continue to stay open.
Honestly Gavin Newsom and his office have appeared aloof and out of touch with reality when it comes to those channels(PEG).
What this means to the community: No more Tranny Talk TV
People will lose their voice in the media, as the government channels
will remain open. SFGOV 1 and 2
I will be unemployed! I will become un-able to pay child support and
take care of my health.
An extreme radicalization of many amateur video or multimedia
specialists, which will directly effect all future political campaigns of
all who allow public access TV in San Francisco to be shut down and
dismantled.
We are aware that many are losing their jobs, but now many will be losing their voice in the media. The staff at Access SF are not city employees and do not deserve to be taken down the same road as them.
Public Access TV can be saved by merely having mature and knowledgeable people define the law or change wording in a law.(DIVCA)
What you can do? Contact the Mayors office and every Supervisor at SF's City Hall. Bug them until they scream at you and call the guard, oh sorry Sheriff.
Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi is the only one that does not need to be contacted as he has been involved in this fight and is doing his part.
There are two meetings coming up where we will be able to vent, and explain to the local pols that losing public access tv, and our jobs, is intolerable.
I will post complete details later this day but two dates to look out for are April 29 and May5th?
