March for Legalization
Immigrant Rights groups held a press conference today in downtown Fresno to announce a major March for Legalization. Polo Chavez (photo below) said the March for Legalization would be held on May 1, International Workers Day.
Immigrant rights activists and their allies will hold a large march and rally on Friday, May 1 in downtown Fresno. The rally will start at 5 p.m. at Eaton Plaza, near the water tower, and the march will start at 6 p.m.
The theme for this years event is “United for Immigration Reform” and “Stop the Raids and Separation of Families.” There is hope, because Barrack Obama is now the president, that significant and meaningful immigration reform will take place this year.
Organizers of the march and rally say that “President Obama promised to fix the inoperative immigration system which has continued to cause the separation of families, increase deaths at the borders, massive raids in the workplace and many injustices against the immigrant communities.” For more information, call (559) 499-1178 or (559) 266-5291.
