Earth Day in Santa Cruz is back! The City of Santa Cruz, the County of Santa Cruz, Ecology Action, local non-profits, and concerned citizens are working together to present an exciting Earth Day event for the whole community.

Earth Day 2009 will take place on April 18th from 11 am to 4 pm, rain or shine! The event will be held at the San Lorenzo Park Benchlands.

Please come and join the community to celebrate Earth Day! This will be a fun environmental celebration for the whole family with live entertainment, activities for kids, and a wide variety of vendors, including food booths, eco-businesses, and local non-profits and government.

* Save Our Shores will be hosting a river cleanup from 11am-1pm, meet with this group at the event and help to clean up the San Lorenzo River!
* Free E-Waste Collection by Grey Bears in the County Building Parking Lot.

Earthen Plasters Demo: Michele Landegger of Boa Constructor Green Building and Design and Tracy Thierot of Tactile Interiors invite you to a hands on demo of applying earth to sheetrock and straw bales. With community help, a sustainable, biodegradable, bamboo straw clay sculpture will be created. Demo at 11 am with ongoing mudslinging throughout the day.
