Action Against Police Brutality, Israeli Consulate, San Francisco, 3/30/09: photos

by dave id
In response to San Francisco police department attacks on demonstrators on March 16th and 21st, a short-notice, ad hoc demonstration was called in front of the Israeli Consulate on Montgomery Street in SF on March 30th. Because it was at the Consulate, three or four Zionist counter-demonstrators showed up across the street with flags and signs. Perhaps because the event announcement was relatively vague and posted without attribution, the demo was small yet police and their vehicles were lined up around the block, literally. In addition to this block-long row of vehicles, there were more around the corner in the alley.

and not at the consul's residence? Since his conscience obviously doesn't keep him awake at night, why not the banging of pots and pans? Even a silent vigil, if maintained long enough, would call the world's attention, or at least SF's, to the shame the rogue state he represents has brought upon every American taxpayer.

We were a small but bright and vocal presence at the Federal Reserve in San Francisco. The message was projected mainly to those on Market Street, i.e., working people. Of course, the tourists at the cable car stop heard us, as well. Flyers were handed out to passers-by. Not until I turned a corner onto Steuart Street, did I see those folks in the uniforms. I could see alarm in someone's eyes. Yes, lined up and ready to, to what?

I think this is a fine idea. Let's get it going, let's make it visible, and let's keep it up. We have to make the Israeli slaughter and oppression of Palestinians something that individuals as well as the Israeli (and American) governments are held accountable for. Boycott, sanction, divest and protest at the consul general's home. Palestinians aren't secure or safe in their homes-why should he and his family be?

Protest at the Consul's house? I'll be there.

re protesting at the israeli consul general's home.
At all of these demonstrations, we should have signs that read: The police and military are why we are so poor; We can't have guns and butter. If you do not have signs to this effect, point this out to everyone around you. This huge police presence is clearly to stifle dissent, contrary to the First Amendment. The Financial District where the Israeli Consulate is, is filled with taxpayers and voters. They need to learn basic economics. San Francisco has a huge budget deficit but never cuts the police budget. These pictures show hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on expensive cars, police salaries and all the terrorist weapons the police carry, all of which is a complete waste of our tax dollars. The same is true of the $6 billion of annual aid ($15 million a day from US taxpayers), mostly military, given to the US military base called Israel to protect US oil profits in the Middle East. As to location, these demonstrations should always be held where there are lots of American taxpayers viewing the whole show as that is who needs the education. This particular huge police presence is a clear sign of the fear the Zionists and their American bosses have of the imminent loss of Israel as their chief cop around the world. The boycott, sanctions, divestment movement against Israel is bigger than ever and growing daily, which means the horror of Israel has finally been exposed to enough people that it cannot be ignored.

Where is it located? What is the consul's name? When is he next most likely to be at home?
