(italy)-Thousands March In Rome Over Economic Crisis Ahead Of G8

ROME (AFP)--Protesters threw red paint, eggs and smoke bombs at Rome-based banks, insurance companies and estate agencies on Saturday, during a march to protest the human cost of the financial crisis.

The march, organized by trade unions(COBAS-RDB-SDL), came a day ahead of a meeting of G8 labor ministers and other experts to discuss the issue.
Students and left-wing activists were among those who took part in the march, which organizers said had drawn around
25,000 people.
One banner carried by the marchers read: "We are with the workers, the jobless, the marginalized - not with those responsible for the crisis."
There were no clashes between the demonstrators and the police, the ANSA news agency reported.
The G8 ministers will be joined by their ministerial colleagues from several developing countries as well as representatives from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the International Monetary Fund.
The meeting will last until Tuesday.
