Volunteer: Coho Salmon Habitat Restoration

SPAWN (The Salmon Protection and Watershed Network) is hosting weekly restoration efforts every Saturday in the Lagunitas Watershed! This is shaping up to be a year that may go down in history as one of the worst for Coho spawning, but these endangered fish bounced back from 1970s lows and they will need our help to recover and prosper again. One of the most critical things we can do is to improve and preserve the habitat they require to thrive.

We need you!

Remove invasive species, plant natives homegrown in SPAWN's nursery, learn about native plants, Coho ecology, and why habitat restoration is so important.

Check http://www.spawnusa.org/upcomingevents/number-5 on Fridays!

Ask the Department of Fish & Game to remove the Fish in their department. It's true, they are colluding with Cal Dept Forestry, giving litterally away our redwood trees that CREATE and maintain habitat at no cost! Timber theft with burl removal is epidemic (likely throughout counties ). In 2002, our creeks could maintain salmanoid species, but NOT NOW. In Santa Cruz, the San Lorenzo Headwaters has NO PROTECTION, Redwood tree removal along with the stump (for burl) is ALLOWED, our only hope remained with CA water Board AND the Dept. of Game, unfortunately, their actions sanction harm insead of protection. Good Luck with your one creek habitat restore thing
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
