Oakland Animal Shelter Director, Adam Parascandola, Resigns
The Director of the Oakland Animal Shelter submitted his resignation letter and announced it at 6PM on Wednesday March 25th. Adam Parascandola has been an excellent director and a true animal advocate.
According to an email sent to employees, volunteers and staff of the Oakland Animal Shelter by Megan Webb, Volunteer Coordinator, Adam Parascandola has is resigning as shelter Director with Webb taking over his post until a permanent Director can be found. Here is the body of the email announcement:
Dear Shelter Staff, Volunteers and Friends:
I am writing to inform you of my decision to resign as the Director of OAS. This has been a difficult decision for me and one I made for many personal reasons. I have really enjoyed getting to know and working with all of you. I am proud of the things that OAS has accomplished in the last two years and I know the good work will continue. I hope to stay involved as a volunteer, particularly working with the small dog program. I will always feel connected to OAS and all of you.
As many of you know I have a long background in Humane Law Enforcement and Cruelty Investigations and this is where my greatest passion and skills lie. I made the decision to work in this area of the animal world once again. I want to thank everyone for giving me the opportunity to work in such an amazing shelter with such a great group of people. OAS is truly a groundbreaking shelter and I feel honored to have been (and to continue to be) a part of it. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to the animals in Oakland.
My last day will officially be April 10th but I will be physically at the shelter through April 5th and then I will be at the Humane Society Expo.
Megan Webb will be the Interim Director. Megan has worked at the Shelter for eight years and has played an instrumental role in making it the organization it is today. She was critical in helping me learn the job and she will be able to easily step into the position of Director. I have full faith in her ability to continue to grow and improve the Shelter.
Sincerely,
Adam
