Big Ass March: Join SEIU 1021, the Coalition to Save Public Health and numerous community organizations as we march to City Hall to preserve City Services. We are meeting at 5th and Market at 5:00 PM and marching to City Hall. It's time to take it to the streets!!! City Hall believes the answer to the budget crisis is cuts to programs we care about. Don't let them get away with it!

SEIU 1021 proclaims to represent 15,000 workers in San Francisco and 50,000 in Northern California. When it's top down appointed organizers brag about how they are going to build a "big ass march" and only bring 1,000 members and clients they are showing the kind of support they really have. You would think with the massive budget cuts in San Francisco and in the state of California they could bring 5 to 10,000 people to march and rally. They did not rally workers throughout Northern California and instead limited it to a "local rally" even though there are regional and statewide issues.
The fact of the matter is that the appointed tops like Damita Howard are still linked to the corrupt Democratic politicians and really don't want to mobilize their entire membership since it might "get out of control". They also recently helped do damage control for corrupt 1021 official James Bryant who supposedly represents the Black members of the local.
They also have no program statewide to deal with the budget cut. Their SF supported politicians like Ammiano, Lee have recently supported a state budget that is part and parcel of the attacks yet not a word came from the platform about who they hold responsible for the cuts in Sacramento.
