Day of contrasts. I loved the marching, dancing, chanting for liberation. I loved the consciousness. The youth of color contingents (at the rear!?) were beautiful and powerful. The loudspeaker system busted my eardrums-ouch! The rally could have been more festive and appealing to all. I enjoyed the music. The counter-demonstrators were sickening. I decided hours later, at home, that they reminded me of the ugly American syndrome. The arrogance was shocking. It can't go on forever. I felt the people standing in front of City Hall, with their music, bull horns, and whistles (w/which to drown us out! As if...) to be idiots.
