Holistic Moms Network of San Jose Offers Alternatives for Parents

by Christina Byard (holisticfreckles [at] sbcglobal.net)
The San Jose Chapter of The Holistic Moms Network Presents “Homeopathy for Your Family’s Health” Join a group of like-minded moms as we invite local homeopath, Mary Jo Aloi, DHom, PCH, to speak on how to safely and effectively treat illness utilizing this hundreds of years old approach to healing.

"NEED MORE HELP BEING DOCTOR MOM?"

HOLISTIC MOMS NETWORK HOSTS MEETING ON USING
HOMEPATHY TO TREAT COMMON CHILDHOOD AILMENTS

San Jose, CA – When faced with a sick child, parents often don't know
where to turn to get the care they want or need. Calling a traditional M.D.
is one option for many. But an increasing number of Americans are turning away from prescription and over-the-counter drugs to homeopathy - a safe and gentle, holistic system of healing, used for 200 years in Europe but dating back to ancient Greece. Homeopathic remedies are a unique, potentised energy medicine, drawn from the plant, mineral and animal. They work by gently boosting the natural energy of the body so it can heal itself. Homeopathy is safe for adults and children alike and can be used to treat a variety of childhood ailments from the common cold to ear infections and pain associated with teething.

According to one report, published last year in Annals of Internal Medicine,
the number of Americans using homeopathy increased by 500 percent in
the last decade. One of the most comprehensive government surveys to
date on Americans' use of complementary and alternative medicine found
that more than 7.3 million people have tried it. Last year, Americans spent
an estimated $425 million on homeopathic remedies, according to J.P.
Borneman, the CEO of Boiron and a spokesperson for the American
Association of Homeopathic Pharmacists (http://www.care2.com/greenliving/homeopathy-finally-gets-some-respect.html).

On April 7, 2009 at 6:30 p.m., the Holistic Moms Network (HMN) of San Jose will be hosting professional homeopath Mary Jo Aloi. Mary Jo Aloi, DHom (UK), PCH, will discuss how to treat your family at home using safe, effective homeopathic remedies. Mary Jo Aloi believes that practicing homeopathy has affected her parenting style greatly. “When I started making educated health care decisions for my precious baby, I really started questioning the status quo,” says Aloi. “Using homeopathy with my kids has given me confidence and self-sufficiency with respect to health care, saved tons of money and sick time, not to mention the long-term benefits of kids who have come to know themselves to be strong, healthy and capable. I trust my children’s innate ability to heal, use homeopathy to assist this capacity, and they do, too.” The meeting will take place at Rozenhart Family Chiropractic, 4620-B Meridian Avenue in San Jose. This lecture will provide a general background on homeopathy and educate parents about some alternatives to conventional over-the-counter medicines.

"Three quarters of Americans seek out some form of alternative medicine
today, and more parents want to improve their children’s health by eliminating toxics from the home and eating wholesome foods," says Christina Byard, Co-Leader of the HMN San Jose Chapter. "The Holistic Moms Network connects parents who are interested in learning about holistic health and green living, from healthy eating and homeopathy to reducing their family's ecological footprint," she says.

In just five years - thanks to mounting interest in these issues - HMN has grown to include more than 130 Chapters across North America. Local Chapters host monthly meetings where parents can meet, share their parenting experiences, and offer one another support.

Moms, dads, grandparents, partners, and other caregivers are all welcome
to join the organization. HMN welcomes guest speakers on a variety of
holistic lifestyle topics. For more information, please visit the Holistic Moms
