El Salvador is less than two weeks away from the presidential elections and the long time leftist party, the FMLN, is about to win it! It has been 15 years since the peace accords were signed. Since then, the right wing, ARENA party has been in power. They have managed to sell most of the country to US corporations and have sacrificed political sovereignty to US imperial interests. Regardless of your feelings on electoral politics or government, having a radically left party in El Salvador, and in Central America is one more step toward breaking US hegemony abroad. CISPES is sending a delegation of 60 people to be observers and reporters during the elections. They will be working really hard, and their work is soooo important.

I was on the January delegation and witnessed massive fraud during the municipal elections. The CISPES delegation was one of the only observer missions to publicly denounce the right wing in the Salvadoran media. The battle in these coming elections will be fierce and CISPES delegates will be doing everything they can to support our allies in the Salvadoran social movement.

Some real nice folks in some real rad bands have offered to do a benefit for the delegation.
Come out and support independent music and the war against US and Corporate imperialism!
