Ahmed Rashid, Pakistani Journalist and Writer; Author, Descent into Chaos: U.S. Policy and the Failure of Nation Building in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia

The conflict in Afghanistan and the skirmishes along the Pakistani border are only now getting focus from U.S. leaders and policy-makers. Rashid makes the case that failed U.S. policy has worsened the situation, and he has said the U.S. must take on the task of nation-building, if there is any hope to strengthen the region.
