Why Does The Coalition for a Democratic Workplace and Johnny Sacks From the Sopranos
Continue to Lie about The Employee Free Choice Act?
Contrary to the lies and distortions displayed in CDW's TV ads and on its website where Johnny Sacks appear, the Employee Free Choice Act does not take secret ballots away from workers.
The legislation instead offers employees an alternative to the current, broken system that is slanted heavily in favor of management against workers. In fact, the bill would ensure that workers can choose their own union formation process, either through majority sign-up or a National Labor Relations Board election.
Who They Are: A corporate front group funded by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Associated Builders and Contractors, and the Wal-Mart dominated Retail Industry Leaders Association, the CDW does the dirty work for these corporate interests through TV ads and public relations campaigns meant to block the Employee Free Choice Act and other pro-worker policies.
Money spent on the anti-worker campaign: $30 million to fight the Employee Free Choice Act over the next year.[ix]
