Hear the results of a poll that asked thousands of Muslims worldwide to share their thoughts on democracy, women's rights and extremism
Who Speaks for Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think
John L. Esposito, Professor of Religion and International Affairs, Professor of Islamic Studies, Founding Director, the Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University; Co-author, Who Speaks for Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think
Dalia Mogahed, Senior Analyst and Executive Director, Gallup Center for Muslim Studies; Co-author, Who Speaks for Islam: What a Billion Muslims Really Think
Many Americans still believe that the mainstream majority of Muslims hold the same beliefs as an extremist minority. In an effort to get at the truth of what Muslims all over the world really think, Gallup World Poll conducted tens of thousands of interviews over six years with people in 35 predominantly Muslim countries. The team uncovered attitudes and assumptions about democracy, the U.S. way of life and extremism itself.
