Los Angeles Medical Marijuana Collective ordinance process has been corrupted
50% of the medical cannabis providers in
operation are not being represented and are being thrown under the bus by a
small group of collective owners here. I sat in chambers last week and
watched in horror as certain activists and so called activist group leaders
called on city leaders to take action and close almost 150 medical cannabis
dispensaries that are operating in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Medical Marijuana Collective ordinance process has been corrupted
There are serious issues with how the ordinance regulating Medical Cannabis
Collectives in Los Angeles is being developed.
Process has been bastardized and 50% of the medical cannabis providers in
operation are not being represented and are being thrown under the bus by a
small group of collective owners here. I sat in chambers last week and
watched in horror as certain activists and so called activist group leaders
called on city leaders to take action and close almost 150 medical cannabis
dispensaries that are operating in Los Angeles. They seem to think that
because they were first they should be the only ones who get to play.
City Councilmember Reyes is convening a private meeting at his office this
week and not one person who represents those 150 providers is being allowed
to participate. A small group of collective owners is using their influence
to keep other providers or their representative out of the discussions.
This is 100% unacceptable.
When the dust settles this week in Los Angeles it will be case of either
"everyone" gets to play in the sandbox or "no one" will play in the sandbox.
And if "no one" is how it plays out then every patient in Los Angeles will
lose out.
Energies should be put forward towards effecting change in the law and not
in back stabbing and maneuvering to protect ones own business interests.
This is suppose to be a compassionate movement not a profit motivated
movement.
I don't own a collective, I don't grow or vend meds, I have no dog in this
hunt other than that as a patient activist and I am angry and pissed off
that members of our so called movement would act like narcs and ask the city
to close other providers who they are in competition with. And sadly that is
what medical cannabis has become here in Los Angeles, a business, a very cut
throat business and unfortunately the true purpose of safe and affordable
access to medicine for patients is becoming just an afterthought to many.
I will not sit by and watch potrepreneurs attempt to limit access to
medicine by patients!
Watch the fireworks in Los Angeles this week.
