Free Skool Teachers Wanted

by Free Skool Santa Cruz (freeskoolsc [at] riseup.net)
Do you have unique skills and knowledge? Do you want to see change in the world? Are you willing to share what you know in a non-authoritarian and interactive way in an informal setting?

Free Skool Santa Cruz is a completely grassroots effort, a bunch of individuals deciding to act collectively and autonomously to create a skill-sharing network. More than just an opportunity to learn, we see Free Skool as a direct challenge to dominant institutions and hierarchical relationships.

Information for Teachers

Free Skool is a decentralized, non-institutional project -- in other words, you and I make it happen. Thank you for your interest in participating in Free Skool Santa Cruz. We are all students, teachers, and organizers here.

Spring Quarter runs March 1st to May 31st. The Free Skool teacher registration deadline is coming up February 10th. We will not calendar classes after this date.

Teacher Commitment: We are asking for a three month commitment.

Scheduling: You choose how often in that three months you want to teach your classes. You choose what days fit your schedule. You can check with us about dates and times to avoid conflicts.

Teaching Space: We encourage teachers to find their own spaces for their classes, but if you need it, we can help you find a location.

Deadlines: For teachers, the deadline to remember is February 10th. We'll need your class info by that deadline. We will have the calendar finished within several days of that deadline, so if you miss it, you miss it.

Teacher Responsibilities: If we want to see this project happen, and we want to participate, we have certain responsibilities as teachers and organizers. Here are some of the ways we encourage you to step up. Promote your class through word-of-mouth, fliering, community outreach, and online. Work with other Free Skoolers to post calendars and fliers. Be prompt and reliable. Keep in touch with your students, before and after your class. Take good care of the spaces who graciously host your class. Help with the quarterly potluck and How to Run a Free Skool workshop.

Please return this form as soon as you can before the class registration deadline. If you want to help with the organizing parts of this whole grassroots endeavor, talk to us.
