SACRAMENTO – Area veterans will make a Veterans Day request Tuesday by
asking the country's new Commander-in-Chief and President-Elect Barack
Obama – and newly elected members of Congress – for an immediate cease-fire
and end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Veterans for Peace will make the announcement at a news conference, and
rally, on Veterans Day, Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. at Arden Fair Mall (Arden &
Heritage).
"Memorials and parades are one thing, but war veterans know the best thing
you can do to support and protect troops is to bring them home safety,
especially from a war virtually everyone now admits was a mistake from the
beginning.
"We want the new President and Congress to call for an immediate
cease-fire, and a plan to bring our comrades home now," said Veterans for
Peace/Sacramento.
