Berkeley: No War, No Torture . . . No Matter Who the Next President Is!

Time:
3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Event Type:
Protest

Location Details:
In Berkeley, the "No Endless Wars Processional" march begins at MLK Park (Allston Way and Martin Luther King Jr. Way), going to the Marine Corps Recruiting Station (64 Shattuck Square), the UC campus, People's Park, and more. This is a permitted march.

This is not the time to "wait and see" if Obama's gonna stop the war(s) and end the torture. If we want this endless war for empire to stop, it's gonna be up to us. What are YOU willing to do???
On November 10 (the day before Veteran's Day), take a stand for what you think about all this! Join with World Can't Wait, anti-war veterans, students, and others to say: We are STILL against these unjust wars -- No matter who is the next president, we DEMAND an end to these wars - and we refuse to accept "endless war" as the future!
We'll do street theater along the way, and we'll call on the people to honk, shout and join us in support. We'll remind people of the reality of this war, some of us wearing orange jumpsuits to represent victims of U.S. torture -- others bearing witness and showing what this war means for civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq, and for the U.S. soldiers who carry out the mission. We are showing the human reality of this war - a war that will continue (yes, even with Obama as president) until we stand up and stop it.
You can join a contingent representing the victims of rendition and torture, wearing orange jumpsuits. You can march with youth protesting military recruitment, chanting "We Are Not Your Soldiers, No Sir, Sir No Sir!" We'll call our message out as we march - to the commuters, the people on the street, the media - and to the world.
You can bring your own signs, or help carry the big ones World Can't Wait is bringing with messages that need to be heard:

NO WAR, NO TORTURE - NO MATTER WHO THE PRESIDENT IS!

AMERICAN LIVES ARE NOT WORTH MORE THAN IRAQI LIVES!

HEY, OBAMA - AFGHANISTAN IS NOT THE "GOOD WAR"!

UC BERKELEY: FIRE THE TORTURE PROFESSOR JOHN YOO!

MASS MURDER IS NOT A CAREER OPTION - NO RECRUITERS ON CAMPUS!
