Jerry's “Brown-Nosin'” with California Prison Guards

by Randy Shaw via Beyond Chron
Tuesday, November 4, 2008 : The California prison guards' union -- one of the state's richest and most reviled special-interest groups -- is funding a multi-million-dollar attack on Proposition 5, the Nonviolent Offender Rehabilitation Act. The prison guards' newest ally is Jerry Brown, Attorney General and former Governor of California.
Prop 5 is a modest and sensible reform of California's corrections system that promises to reduce the state's bloated prison population and, in the process, cut state spending by billions of dollars. The measure is supported by a wide-range of treatment professionals, good-government types and former high-ranking corrections and law enforcement officials.

It is unreal Jerry Brown does not know more about Prop 5 as he was charged with writing the title & and summary? It is clear beyond doubt all of our past governors have had no interest in reducing the prison population. It is evident in prop 5 and was evident in prop 66. Justice and resolving our prison crisis is the last thing on their minds. At nearly $50,000 dollars per inmate per year, a reasonable person would think prop 5 is a great answer to solve the prison crisis and save billion for our other crisis, the budget! California needs a governor that looks out for the taxpayers, not themselves!
