Why does the US face major dilemmas in countries where they have donated aid? Hilton Root believes the problem lies in allocating development assistance to oppressive regimes, which often results in corruption, economic failure, and instability, making the developing world even more wary of its intentions. Root discusses why the US must reshape its foreign policy and the allocation of US aid associated with the War on Terror if we are to avoid repeating disastrous mistakes.
