Protest Jim Gilchrist Thursday at 10am at UCSD

Here's what we should all be doing in preparation for tomorrow's protest:
1) Make sure you attend the event. It's at the *UCSD Extension complex, Room
129, **thursday**, October 16 at 10am. *For directions, go to:

http://extension.ucsd.edu/programs/osher/directions.cfm

2) Spread the word. Call your friends, invite them to come, organize rides,
and show up. We need as many people as possible there.

3) If you haven't do so, call and write UCSD Extension. Tell them:

-that you strongly condemn them for inviting Gilchrist
-that this man's words and actions are not worthy of being recognized by an
academic institution as 'learning.'
-that Gilchrist is a professional liar and hate mongerer, that he is the
leader of a group vigilantes, and that he has personal ties to white
supremacist organizations
-let them know that you plan to be there tomorrow to stop the event. Tell
them that you heard there's dozens of people who are going down there to
shut it down!!

The ideal scenario is that we can get them to cancel the event beforehand or
during.
If you are a UCSD student/staff/faculty please identify yourself as such so
that they know the pressure is coming from inside the university.

*Again, spread the word about this. This is our chance to show Gilchrist
that we are much stronger than he and his cronies. It's also an opportunity
to get our community to educate our community about immigration. *

Dear UCSD community member:
James Gilchrist, the founder and leader of the Minutemen Project has been
invited to speak at UCSD.
For those of you that don't know him, Mr. Gilchrist is a high-profile,
professional nativist rabble rouser.
His job consists of going around the country to spread lies about immigrants
and sow fear and hatred towards them.

*His 'lecture' will be at the UCSD Extension complex, room 129, this
Thursday, October 16 at 10am *

According to the event's description: *"Jim will speak about the origins of
The Minuteman Project and the uncertain consequences to the United States if
immigration policies and laws are not enforced."*

Please plan to attend the event to speak out against Mr. Gilchrist's
presence in our community.

We need to loudly and clearly (but peacefully) condemn UCSD's Osher Lifelong
Learning Institute and the Marcella Coolidge Trust (co-sponsors) for
inviting Mr. Gilchrist. His paranoid, hate-filled, xenophobic demagoguery
cannot be allowed to pass as academic discourse.
