At several San Diego, CA, community college (two-year) campuses,
queer students have changed the name of their LGBT student union
-- to FAGS
(Fellowship of Associated Gay Students).

Bureaucrats are trying to censor them.

The fellow pushing FAGS [from partially behind the scenes] is
one Jay Murley, a 1960s activist in Orange County.
He loved sicking ACLU on recalcitrant queer-haters who broke the law in various
unknown (to them) ways.

He is also behind GABLES (gay, bi, lesbian seculars)....
(You are quite right in that he is ignoring the LBT part of the spectrum with the FAGS acronym. He's also ignoring the T people with GABLES. Inclusiveness is such hard work!)

He's having fun threatening the mentioned [ college] bureaucrats
with major bad publicity on several reserved websites
if they don't cave on his demand to let the students use the acronym.
Lots of fun down here if you like acrimony.
Not the Quaker way, but he may accomplish what he intends.
