Curtis Lawson: Celebrated 50 Years Of Music Live !
On Saturday, September 1st, 2007 , Access SF, the City’s public access television station, & LaQuita Music will jointly present “A Night of Blues” with Curtis Lawson & Friends- Celebrating 50 Years of singing the Blues in the Bay Area. This special event will be held at the African American Art & Culture Complex (AAACC), located at 762 Fulton Street (at Web- serve as a tribute to the career of Mr. Lawson, who is widely regarded as a legend among San Francisco Bay Area Blues performers. 25+ renown Bay Area Blues singers and musicians are scheduled to appear as part of this unprecedented Bay Area Blues celebration that will span 50 years. Per the terms of the Comcast cable franchise, the Department of Telecommunications of the City & County of San Francisco has been working on the wiring of eleven community centers and public schools to serve as “ upstream sites, “ remote points throughout S.F.’ s neighborhoods that can go live on the City’s public, education & government access channels. The AAACC has been designated one such site, and it will be the first location to host a live cable cast event with “ A Night Of Blues.” This is a first-of-its-kind event for local television in S.F. A 90-minute special presentation will be presented Live on Access SF 2- Comcast Cable Channel 76 from 8:00 Pm- 9: 00 PM. Zane Blaney, Executive Director of Access SF, said “ A Night of Blues represents a historic break-through for local television content, and it is the first of much more to come in the way of community access coverage of local events. “ He added, “ It is fitting for public access to launch this service in the Western Addition as the African American community in San Francisco has been such an integral part of the diverse voices on public access television over the years.
