Hands Off Our UHW

Thousands of Service Employee International Union - United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) members came to San Mateo on Friday and Saturday to tell the International to keep their hand off of their union. The members held a march today (Saturday) in support of their union and SEIU-UHW president Sal Rosselli spoke at the rally that followed. Photos of the march and audio of Rosselli’s talk is below. Two bus loads of members came from Fresno.

Sal Rosselli spoke to SEIU-UHW members at a rally on Saturday to update them on the hearings that are taking place in San Mateo. The hearings have been called by SEIU - International in an attempt to “takeover” SEIU-UHW, in a process called trusteeship. This is the audio from his speech.

Rosselli spoke at a rally today to thousands of SEIU-UHW members, updating them on the proceedings that are taking place that could result in a takeover of UHW.

Why would the larger SEIU organization want to take over local control of the UHW? What is their motivation?
