10/2 SF Forum & Meeting: What Is Happening At San Francisco Community Access and Where Is
Community Access in San Francisco is under attack. Producers and programmers have been banned without proper hearings and democratic procedures and there has been a real decline in the users of community access despite the great need for independent voices. At the same time the deregulation of cable has meant possible budget cuts. There will be a public meeting on Sunday Oct 12 to look at these issues.

The number of users of community access tv in San Francisco is declining at a time of greater need. Producers are being "banned" and many local community programmers have left the station in disgust at the present management of the station. At the same time the deregulation of cable by the politicians has threatened funding of this critical community tv access. This forum will look at what is happening presently at community access in San Francisco, how it is threatened and what solutions community producers and programmers need to defend this media resource.
