17th FPAC - A Tremendous Success!

by Justice for Filipino American Veterans
he week-end of September 6 and 7th was not a typical day. On those two days, the 17th Festival of Filipino Arts and Culture (FPAC) came back with vengeance.

While some detractors believed the FPAC is dead, for two days, more than 15,000 people flocked to the festival grounds at Point Fermin in San Pedro and enjoyed the display of Filipino and Filipino American sounds and furies and affirmed that FPAC is vibrant, alive and filled with enthusiasm.

17th FPAC Days, Sept 6-7 -A Tremendous Success

Los Angeles-- The week-end of September 6 and 7th was not a typical day.

Jazz master Joe Bataan and his band held the crowd mesmerized until the end of the day on Sunday. While hundreds of young FilAms enjoyed modern dance exhibitions of the All In Motion, the Carson Street Dance, Livewire and others at the Generations Stage. They also enjpyed the the songs and the sounds of the Committee and the Fighting Cocks.

Meanwhile , BAMBU and Kiwi as well as balladeer Anthony Castelo swooned the multi-generational crowds at the main stage.Happy Slip was a crowd drawer as well as the traditional dancers from Kayamanan ng Lahi. The songs of UCLA Tinig and other Filipino American cultural groups. A lot of groups showed up and filled displays and service groups as well as vendors sold their wares at the festival.

One thing was affirmed. That FPAC still stands as the “ Southern California’s LARGEST and LONGEST RUNNING Annual Filipino tradition”

Thanks to all festival builders, community partners. Interns, government agencies and all who made it possible for the FPAC to blend culture and arts into one consuming estatic event.
