PUERTO RICAN STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE
September 23 is El Grito de Lares, an important revolutionary holiday in Puerto Rico commemorating an 1868 rebellion against slavery and Spanish colonialism. It is also the third anniversary of the FBI assassination of Filiberto Ojedo Rios, one of the most revered leaders in the struggle for Puerto Rican independence. Join us for a special report from Carlito Rovira, longtime Puerto Rican activist and PSL member from New York City. He will speak on the struggle for Puerto
Rican independence, its history and recent developments.
RUSSIA VS. GEORGIA
Understanding independence in the age of imperialism
The corporate media portrays the recent conflict in South Ossetia as "self-determination versus Russian imperialism." But a closer look reveals, yet again, US imperialist penetration into a former-Soviet republic. Hear a Marxist analysis of the struggle
against US encroachment into the Caucasus region.
