Currently under construction at University Avenue and Oxford Way, the Li Ka-Shing Center for Biomedical and Health Sciences, scheduled for completion in March 2010, would expand UC-Berkeley's existing Northwest Animal Facility by seventy percent. 40,000 non-human animals are currently exploited at the university for the most esoteric of research.
