Denver: Convergence center raided Wednesday morning

by Colorado indymedia
Reports are appearing on Colorado indymedia that the police have raided the Convergence center, and have removed banner and puppet supplies. Police also arrested two people protesting the raid inside and took their belongings. The convergence center is located 1-2 miles north of the Pepsi center
Here is a map of Denver.

Some background to understand is that organizing against the DNC was split among several umbrella groups. I believe that Unconventional Action is the group that arranged for the low-key banner making/supplies/cooking space at this convergence center.
The Recreate 68 umbrella group had permits for a Civic center park location, and Food not Bombs served meals here. Indeed, the prominent mass arrest that occurred on Monday started when police decided to send lines of police into the FnB meal, where there were reports of them kicking over plates and pushing people out of the way. Recreate 68 has had police negotiators or liaisons, and their commander kept claiming he was keeping police out of the park during their fully permitted meal, but then more lines of police came in and essentially drove people out of the park. It was at this time as people fled the park towards downtown that they were cordoned off in a city block and kept stationary for two to three hours, and some were arrested.

On Wednesday morning, even though R68 holds a permit, a chainlink fence appeared around the park overnight. The stated reason for this is that there will be a food festival next weekend, and they decided they need three days ahead of time to set up booths for this, despite the prominence of the DNC and the permitted protest space. R68 apparently negotiated for them to open a hole in the fence and let them use the space again. It was sort of suspicious. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/news/2008/aug/27/tension-dissipates-over-civic-center-fence/

The Alliance for REal Democracy/Tent State, which has been arranging the Rage Against the Machine concert Wednesday, is located in Cuernavaca park. Not many people have been hanging out here, as covered by mtv: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1593375/20080822/id_0.jhtml
