KPFA LSB Meeting to End KPFA's Police State

Date:
Saturday, September 13, 2008
Time:
11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Event Type:
Meeting
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
Cafe de la paz, 1600 Shattuck, Berkeley, California

Regular meeting of KPFA's elected Local Station Board on SEPTEMBER 13, 2008 AT Cafe de la paz, 1600 Shattuck, Berkeley, California. Demand top items of the agenda be:
1. Firing of Lemlem Rijo, Interim General Manager, Nicole Sawaya, Executive Director of Pacifica, and their entire staffs for perpetrating vicious police violence against a long-time volunteer programmer, Nadra Foster, on August 20, 2008 on KPFA premises. For more on this horrifying police brutality for which the ENTIRE LOCAL STATION BOARD IS LIABLE, as are Rijo and Sawaya, listen to Flashpoints of 8/21/08 and 8/22/08 at:
1. 8/21/08
http://www.kpfa.org/archives/index.php?arch=27972
2. 8/22/08

and Hard Knock Radio of 8/22/08 at:

Flashpoints is also at:

2. ENDING ALL CANCELLATION OF PROGRAMS FOR WHICH THE SUBSCRIBERS PAY. The latest theft of our money is the broadcast of the Democrat-Republican drinking parties during prime time, 5-9 p.m., 8/25-28 and 9/1-4, cancelling Flashpoints, the news and public affairs programs. Considering Flashpoints has been broadcasting the news of this entire police brutality incident, it is not surprising that the police thugs running KPFA, and that includes the Local Station Board, have it superseded every chance they get from drinking party conventions to dreary government hearings, neither of which should ever supersede listener-paid programs.

3. MAKING LABOR AND BLACK LIBERATION PROGRAMS A TOP PRIORITY OF KPFA. We need daily labor and black liberation programs on KPFA during prime time, 6-10 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. We are in a labor era and only the workingclass can make serious change. The majority of the workingclass is now black and Latino. KPFA's vicious racism in allowing a black programmer to be brutally beaten by 10-15 police on KPFA's premises certainly highlights the need for more labor and black liberation programming.

We should remember that the majority of the LSB was the slate of the "Concerned" Listeners, sponsored by the Wellstone Democratic Club, staunchly opposed by Peace & Freedom Party and Green Party candidates. This is what happens when people do not vote; evil prevails. You have to participate in this listener-sponsored radio station, especially if you are a subscriber. HOW BAD DO THINGS HAVE TO GET BEFORE THE SUBSCRIBERS STOP ELECTING THE "CONCERNED" LISTENERS AND IMMEDIATELY DEMAND THAT RIJO AND SAWAYA BE FIRED? We can be sure that KPFA's insurance policy will be cancelled the minute they get the police brutality lawsuit, and THERE SHOULD BE A LAWSUIT both for the needs of Ms. Foster and to get the subscribers out of bed and participating in their radio station. WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH OF THE GOVERNMENT AGENTS AT KPFA, TERRORIZING EVERYONE, CANCELLING OUR PROGRAMS AND PROMOTING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. TO EVERY KPFA SUBSCRIBER: Can you imagine yourself being beaten by the police, put in a wrap, hog-tied, have your arm broken and jailed FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER, while you are on KPFA premises? YOU ARE NEXT IF YOU DO NOT DEMAND ALL OF THE ABOVE DEMANDS TODAY!
