*STEP INTO THE RHYTHM OF THE OUR DRUMMING MARCHING ORCHESTRA!*
Women Drummers come out and play on Sistahs Steppin' in Pride Saturday!
The 7th ANNUAL SISTAHS STEPPIN' IN PRIDE EAST BAY DYKE MARCH &
FESTIVAL on Saturday, August 23 at Lake Merritt in Oakland proudly
welcomes Sistah Boom--the phenomenal women's percussion band-- lead
by Carolyn Brandy and Afia Walking Tree.
*STEP INTO THE RHYTHM OF THE OUR DRUMMING MARCHING ORCHESTRA!*
Women & Girls at ALL LEVELS are welcomed!
Bring your own marching drumz & percussion or use ours (Driver's
License or Photo ID required)
*REHEARSAL*: 10 am SHARP - mainly for Sistah Boom, but you're
welcome to join us then. Location: Astro Park, by Lake Merritt near
the Pillars@El Embarcadero and Grand Avenue, across from Oakland
Public Library & Gold's Gym).
*PRE-MARCH GATHERING*: 11 am at Astro Park (same as above)
*MARCH*: NOON, winding through the streets to the FREE FESTIVAL from
1-5 at Snow Park (19th & Harrison Street)
*DETAILS*: DRUM LOAN STATION for general public opens 10:30 am to
11:45 am at Astro Park.
No Drum Loans after 11:45 am. Check in and borrow drumz with a valid
picture ID or Driver's License.
Show up with your excitement! All instruments generously provided by
Spirit Drumz.
*BRING*: Bells, tambourines, shakers, frame drums, light, small
hand-held marching drums. (Please clearly label and inventory your
drum.) Sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, water, prescription meds,
walking shoes,
layers.
*WEAR*: Vibrant colors to celebrate you, your culture, your joy,
brilliance, medicine pouch.
*WE NEED*: Banner Carriers for the duration of the 1 hr 15 min
march. When you get to the park, please come to the drum loan
station and let us know you want to support Sistahs Steppin' by
being a banner carrier!!
