Seventh annual Bay Area Japanese Peace Lantern Ceremony. Decorate lantern shades, float candlelit lanterns on the lagoon at dusk, in remembrance of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and all victims of war. Family-friendly event. Bring decorating supplies (markers, crayons, etc.), and if you can, a folding table and chairs (labeled with your name/email/phone). Volunteers needed, flyers available for downloading and copying -- see the Web site, http://www.progressiveportal.org/lanterns.

August 9 is the 63rd anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Japan.
