Oak Grove Gets Supplies In

by tristan
New traverse line from a redwood across the street allows food and a tree sitter to resupply the Oak Grove tree sit.

Yesterday (July 23) in the early hours of the morning tree sitters took over a tall redwood tree across the street and behind a building from the tree sit. They set up a traverse line that went over 200 feet across the street and into the redwood with the tree sitters in it. it was amazing and everyone wants to know how they did it but i think it was magic or those squirrels that always steal our food were tired of the ER Bars.

Later in the evening tree sitters and ground people negotiated with the police. It was controversial but moved things along. The tree sitters agreed to give up the new traverse line and tree and lower human waste (some thought that the throwing of piss and shit was one of the main reasons that the tree sit is still there and did not want to give it up). The university agreed to let us give a bag of food to the tree sitters every day, not use force against three sitters (they can pull out with 72 hours notice or if we try to send in food by other means) and let one tree sitter go. In the evening it all went into motion. The line came down, a tree sitter came down and was not arrested, tree sitters lowered waste and a bag of food went up.

Now we wait for the Berkeley City Council to decide to stay in the law suit or not. The grove may be cut on Tuesday. Everyone please come out that day.
